Manual or Electric Knife Sharpeners?

2009 June 8

I am debating whether to try manual or electric. Do the electric models sharpen the entire length of the blade as can be accomplished with the manual models?

Thanks for your advice!
Terry

Dear Terry,

We have designed our electric knife sharpeners to sharpen as much of the blade as possible on as many knives as possible. There are some knife designs that make it difficult to sharpen the entire blade.

The decision between electric and manual really comes down to the speed and frequency of sharpening. If you want the fastest sharpening and you do a lot of sharpening of relatively dull blades, the electric is the way to go. If you only do occasional sharpening of blades that are not seriously dull, then manuals will do just fine. As we always say, all of our sharpeners sharpen knives.

Thank you for considering Smith’s and I hope you are satisfied with your purchase as our many other customers. Let us know if you have any other questions.
