Sharpening Serrated Broadhead with Tanto Tip
Question:
I know this is not a knife question but here goes. I am trying to sharpen a serrated broadhead with a tanto tip. Any ideas on technique or the best sharpener to do both jobs?
Thanks,Fran.
Expert Answer from Smtih’s:
Thanks for your inquiry. I would suggest using our versatile Diamond Retractable Sharpener. This sharpener features an unbreakable steel sharpening rod that is coated with multiple layers of medium grit monocrystalline diamonds. The rod is reversible for various sharpening functions and adjustable to variable lengths. The tapered end of the diamond rod can be used to sharpen the serrations on your broadhead, and the flat portion on the other end of the rod could be used to sharpen the tanto tip.
In addition, the sharpening rod has a small groove for sharpening fish hooks or small, pointed tools. It is only about the size of a pen, so it is lightweight and compact. There is a shirt pocket clip on the housing to easily store it while in the field and makes it easily accessible. The aluminum housing adds durability to this small, but effective sharpening tool and stores the sharpening rod when not in use.
The Diamond Retractable Sharpener (model # DRET) is available for purchase in store or online at leading Sporting Goods and Hardware retailers (Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, K-Mart) or on our website at the following link, Diamond Steel Rod Sharpener | Smith’s - The Edge Experts.
